WHY PEOPLE LEARN GERMAN?

  • The Tuition fees in German Universities for Masters studies is Nil or relatively less (in many cases) when compared to English-speaking countries such as UK, Australia, USA, Canada, etc. Even with the relatively lower fee, Masters courses in Germany maintain a high standard and are in par with the rest of world in terms of quality. Most of the times, the possibility of saving upto Rs. 40 Lakh rupees, otherwise to be paid as tuition fees in English-speaking countries, becomes a motivating factor in order to pursue learning German (Not the love to learn such a complex language like German).
  • Most of the Masters courses for International students are taught in English. The students are required to write IELTS/TOEFL in order to represent their proficiency in English. In most cases, knowing German is not mandatory while in some cases, it is a necessity. While applying, the applicant may be required to produce an A1/A2/B1/B2 certificate issued by Goethe Institut to the concerned University as a proof of German language proficiency. Nonetheless, it is advantageous to know the language as it opens doors for lucrative Employment and Career opportunities in German-based companies and thus paves a way for financial growth. The number of students favouring a move to Germany for Masters courses is increasing year by year. For more Information, visit https://www.daad.de/en/

FAQ

Why should one learn German/French or any other European language, when English is considered as the most popular language across the world for communication?
Indeed English enjoys the privilege of being the most popular language for communication across the world. However in European countries like Germany, France or Spain, English is not as popular as the local language of that respective country. Therefore, it is highly recommended that if one wishes to migrate to any European country, he/she has to have a workable knowledge of that respective country's language. In such countries, English is hardly used for communication on a daily basis.
My course is in English and in the University there are all levels of German language courses offered free of cost or at a very low fee. When that is the case, is it worth spending money and time on learning German (at this institute) and taking Certification Examinations by Goethe Institut in India?
Both, yes and no. Unless there is a mandatory requirement specified by the University, it is not necessary to know/learn German language beforehand. However, being proficient in German language comes with its fair share of advantages whilst settling to a new life in Germany and hence it seems better to start early. Further, the cost involved to learn German language formally in Germany is much more compared to the cost involved in India and can go upto 300 € per level (varies from city to city).
How many levels of German/French language courses do you offer in your Institute?
3 Levels: A1, A2 and B1.
What are these levels, A1/A2 etc. ?

What is the duration and schedule for the courses offered by the Institute?
Regular batches are engaged from Monday to Friday for 1½ hours per day for two months. Weekend batches are engaged on Saturdays and Sundays for a duration of 3 hours.
Does the Institute issue certificates for having taken up the course?
No. We recommend the candidates to take up German Language proficiency examinations of Goethe Institut and French DELF/DALF examinations of Allicance Française. The certification obtained by clearing these examinations are authentic and valid for Visa, Study or Employment related purposes. The training offered by the Institute ensures that the candidate acquires the knowledge required to take these examinations.
Do these certificates have a validity period?
Both yes and no. The certifications are technically a validation of a candidate's level of proficiency in the language and has a validity period of upto 6 months from the exam. However, if the candidate intends to take up a higher level certification (after a long duration of time), he/she is subjected to an Entry Test to get admitted. On evaluation, if the candidate is found to be compatible for the higher level, he/she is allowed to pursue the certification.
Can one can learn the German Language just by watching YouTube videos or through free language teaching applications?
One can attain a resonable knowledge of German language by pursuing this methodology. However, one may not be capable to take the Certification Examinations, which are required for all official purposes in Germany. You have the liberty of verifying the quality and the impact of these courses yourself. Here are some sites that may help you: For A1:
What is the advantage of learning German language for Medical Professionals?
One can pursue his/her higher studies in the Medical Field in Germany which takes 6+ years.
